Sunshine Coast prepares to welcome Centre annual conference

Counting down to the ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology’s Annual Conference #CoESB23, which will be held at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort in Queensland from 5-8 December 2023.

The conference, now in its third year, promises to spark innovation and collaboration and will provide plenty of opportunities for mentoring and networking. We expect over 200 delegates to attend.

We’ll be joined by five keynote speakers who are making a positive impact in the field of biology both at home and abroad – Professor Jane Calvert (Edinburgh University), Douglas Friedman (CEO of BioMADE), Professor Irina Borodina (Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, Denmark), Associate Professor Drew Endy (Stanford University) and Dr Lucy Ham (University of Melbourne).

Highlights of the conference include a Welcome dinner, poster sessions, talks from our Chief Investigators, Early to Mid-Career Researchers (ECMR) workshops, group team building activities and a Gala Dinner.

As part of our commitment to making the event more sustainable, we’re partnering with Reforest to plant 50 trees along the Cooroy Mountain Wildlife Corridor. This growing forest will remove 10.3t of carbon dioxide and restore 200sqm of habitat. Through the conference app, attendees can claim a tree, check their carbon footprint and plant extra trees to remove emissions.
